Our client was an Equity Partner with a well-known consultancy who had subsequently established his own successful business but was now seeking a new career challenge, ideally in London.
We advised on career options, CV and interview presentation before making discreet enquiries with our city contacts. We were able to set up a number of meetings resulting in the offer of a directorship with a highly regarded firm. In turn, the firm benefited from our client’s injection of new customers and income streams.
Securing a directorship with discretion
This diversified investment group were aiming to form a semi-autonomous development organisation. Our brief was to recruit a Head of Development to grow the company through commercial property development. The role had already been advertised nationally and placed with a number of agencies but the client was unhappy with the calibre of candidates seen.
Having agreed the brief, we identified a target list. Direct approaches were made and meetings arranged, in confidence. We ran psychometrics on shortlisted candidates and helped to negotiate the right remuneration and incentive package. We didn’t stop there – to cement the appointment and ensure successful on-boarding, we also provided the services of an executive coach for the first 100 days of the role.
Searching for a higher calibre candidate
When Strutt & Parker wanted to expand their planning team in several UK locations, they asked us to help. Finding the right people was commercially crucial and we’d be operating in a tight market with a scarcity of good candidates.
We ran a full-page national advertisement alongside a creative social media campaign. This was backed up with a detailed search into local planning authorities and competitor consultancies, focusing on the Midlands and South of England. Our clients made multiple appointments in several key offices.
An expanding team. A tight market
A test of our Talent Partnering capabilities – our brief was to support an HR team through a period of rapid expansion. A series of merged companies were being brought into a single head office location resulting in more than 50 vacancies. Some had been outstanding for a considerable period of time and were business critical.
We met with divisional heads throughout the company to refine requirements and drafted detailed job descriptions. We took on several search assignments that had previously proved too difficult for the company to source, successfully filling senior positions in Edinburgh, Manchester, Wales and London. We also took over response handling for a national advertising campaign, including all interviewing and shortlisting of candidates on the clients’ behalf.
